Fast track Highschool
This design for a large ( 1000 pupil ) Fast Track High School is adaptable to many different locations. The design and the building system used, incorporates flexibility in plan and elevation, within an efficient compact form. Non load bearing interior walls offers the potential for the reprogramming of rooms to suit differing reorientations, other locations and changes in programme over time. This achieves an optimal flexible interior for the future and therefore saves costs..
A fast track precast building system provides for an accelerated delivery time and cuts down on onsite construction waste. We have also incorporated as many sustainable aspects as possible within a tight budget, with natural ventilation and a green wall connected to a roof top terrace linked to the main hall space and entry zone. All aspects were reviewed in terms of lowering ongoing running and maintenance costs while providing a robust high quality exterior and interior finish.
The ‘Trias Energetica’ was taken as the energy use starting point, in this design in order to lower long term maintenance and running costs.
This is an ambitiously compact interpretation of a modern school building brought into being within tight financial constraints. It is a robust design with character and a strong visual identity.
