Berger Barnett Architecten wins architectural selection for 120 new homes in Amsterdam New West

At the roundabout of the Burgemeester de Vlugtlaan in Amsterdam New West, 3 housing blocks with 72 apartments dating from 1954 mark the west entrance to the district.

Research has shown that the existing homes are technically and functionally no longer fit for purpose, and Eigen Haard Housing Association wants to replace these iconic blocks with new buildings that meets modern standards.  New construction also gives the opportunity to add extra homes to the location and thereby make a contribution to the housing task of the city.

Berger Barnett will further develop the design with a sensitivity to the original urban plan and district.
